A Major Exhibition of Learning from all Pupils at Newbattle Community High School
Imagine a school where every pupil has enough talent to take part in a public exhibition…
Imagine a school where pupils’ achievements are valued and celebrated with the community…
Imagine an exhibition of art, writing, dance, music, sport, maths, drama and all other areas of the school curriculum…
The 1000×1000 exhibition is an exhibition of the best work from every pupil. Work from every school subject is represented - including live evening performances of music, dance, fashion and animation!
The first Newbattle 1000 × 1000 exhibition was held at the end of May 2007. The second one was held in June 2009. The third was held in June 2012. Each exhibition aimed to feature one piece of work from every single pupil in the school. It was full of work and slide shows which covered a wide range of subjects. It aimed to show diversity and ambition, creativity and media handling skills, critical thinking and expressive enjoyment in education.
We believe that we may well have a truly unique event on our hands, as we cannot think of any secondary school in Scotland which has exhibited work from every pupil on its roll.
This simply reinforces the Newbattle belief that every youngster has something worthwhile to contribute, given the opportunity.
